16 Sep EMPOWERING CHILDREN WITH OUR HOPE FOR LITERACY PENCILS
Hope for Literacy Wood-Free Pencils came about as a result of our ‘Hope for Literacy Campaign’ where as a company we seek to bridge the literacy gap between the children from marginalized communities with those of the middle and upper class peers.
Research shows that the intellectual scores of children from poverty and marginalized communities is more than 60% lower than that of their peers in higher socio-economic groups. Many of the children from poor backgrounds do not have adequate writing materials like pencils and books which are a necessity for quality education. Hope for literacy campaign seeks to donate these wood-free pencils to 1 million needy children to assist them acquire quality education and giving hope to a child’s dream.
As an organization that literacy forms an integral part of its mission and through strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations, our goal is to advance literacy across 1,000,000 school-going children by mobilizing resources for mass donations of pencils funded by strategic partners. We seek to help these children learn effectively for a better future. We do tree planting and pencil donation to schools in order to make an impact in the community, and actively participate in environmental sustainability. This program is also a great way for the students to learn about sustainability and the environment.
Hope for Literacy Campaign ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all. A pencil in a child’s hand provides the opportunity for one to learn and to grow. Hope for Literacy Pencils are symbolic. They signify a new beginning, new life, hope for the future, empowerment and freedom. They point to an empowered generation with a great future. They also provide an opportunity for everyone who shares the same sentiment to provide an opportunity for equal education to all our children.
